This Ancient Bristlecone Pine stands along the Discovery Trail in Schulman Grove part of the Inyo National Forest. The trees there grow for over 4,000 years. The photograph was taken at night and exposed for a quarter hour to get star trails around the north star.

Karen is always seeking to improve her images to better share the wildlife and landscapes she finds. She has worked as a naturalist since 1999, first in Florida and now across the United States, and enjoys educating others about the environment.
